Children's Stories From Church Services
From the Novato SDA Church, April 24, 2004
By Angie
My story about living in France. There was a mountain behind the school, and a
path that went up the mountain. It was a very relaxing.
I used to go up frequently on my own, it was a safe place to be. One day a
friend went up with me. We both wanted to go to a different part of the
mountain. He liked to be out in nature.
We took a different path than we normally do. This was the part of the year
where it was beginning to be spring. The snow had melted on the sunny side of
the mountain. But not on the darker side of the mountain.
We took a path that ended up going towards this more icy area. We crossed some
ice, but decided to keep going, hoping the path would come back to where we
wanted to go.
By this time, we looked back and we had a difficult time finding our way back.
We realized that if we fell, we would slide for a long distance.
We came to a cliff where we had a narrow edge to walk around a huge rock. But we
made it through this.
The whole time I was praying that we would make it through. We came to a place
where the only choice was a slide down into the ravine, or a steep climb upwards
with rocks and a different climb.
Buckley was climbing up ahead of me, and telling me I could do the climb. I
looked in back o fme, and all I saw was a the ravine. By this time, it was
already getting to be evening, we didn't plan on the cold, we didn't have on the
proper clothes, we didn't have food or water with us.
At one point, I suddenly froze, I because so afriad. Buckley took my hand,
pulled my up to his ledge. And we stopped and prayed there that we would not
have to spend the night on the mountain.
We kept going and going, and finally we did come to the road. It was a really
long walk.
When we got back we were dirty, and hungry, people wanted to know what happened
to us. But we knew the Lord kept us safe.
It is hard to tell you with words what we went through, but this is a situation
where somehow God will send help if we ask him.
