THE SEVENTH STATION OF THE CROSS . L: We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. . L: Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; yet we accounted him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way, and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:4-6) (Kneel/sit and pause for reflection) L: Blessed are the poor in spirit,: All: For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:3,5,8,11-12) L: Let us pray. Gracious Lord, as we walk the way of sorrows, it pains us to know that it is our fallenness in sin that crushes Christ under his cross. Yet by his suffering, we are raised up and made whole. Strengthen us in our baptismal vows and forgive us always for the sins that make us fall, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. All: Amen (Stand and move to the next station, singing:) May our sympathy for Jesus On to
